I’m writing this based on what’s been coming up over and over again for me this week. This is a message we’ve all heard, but sometimes it’s easy to forget: follow your heart.
We, as humans, are all very different from each other. And we all have core values, and rules, and truths that are unique to each of us as individuals.
And, although we all know this deep down inside, we often forget to acknowledge that our truth exists within us, and we find ourselves seeking answers outside of ourselves.
We go to authority figures and experts, friends and family members. We expect them to be able to tell us what direction we should head or what the best decision is in a certain situation.
And, although they all have our best interest at heart, nobody (and I mean nobody!) knows what is best for you better than you do.
Nobody can possibly be aware of your authentic truth, except for you.
The way to get clear about what your truth is in any situation is to follow your heart. It’s not typically something we can figure out intellectually (in our heads). It’s something that will reveal itself and become perfectly clear when we take the time to get quiet and really listen.
We all have the ability to access what’s authentically true for us. It cannot come from anyone or anything outside of ourselves… it has to come from within us.
And the best advice I can give is that if you’re stuck and you don’t know what the best direction for you to go is in any given situation, just do nothing. Literally do nothing. Your answer (your truth) will reveal itself in due time. I promise.
Here’s a quick video I made about following your heart in order to discover your authentic truth:
I hope this was helpful. And I’d love to hear from you… please let me know your thoughts and insights in the comments below. And feel free to pass this along to your friends and followers. Share the love. 🙂
Please follow your heart,

Hi Amy, Thank you so much for your post “Follow your heart.” I really needed to be reminded of this today. I had a network marketing business 3 years ago and let it lapse when I came to Lesotho to do missionary work. Now that my contract has ended, I am moving back to South Africa and have to find another source of income. I have written a book and would like to go with a subsidy publisher I found, but don’t have the finances right now to take advantage of that. As part of my missionary work, I did a lot fo Life Skills coaching and ran an entrepreneurial programme for youth and feel that I could use that experience somehow. In all this, I didn’t really know exactly what steps to take, where to begin re-activating my network marketing business and how all the other stuff ties in. Also, the pressure to have a reliable, steady source of income right away is very much there cuz my husband and I have 2 kids and even though he got a good job earlier this year and is already settled in South africa, he needs input from me. The reminder to just be quiet and do nothing until I get an answer from my heart was so powerful. yesterday, my brother-in-law said “Do what you’re really good at: pray” but it was hard in the midst of so many things coming at me to get quiet and do that. when you said in your video that other peoples’ opinions and agendas, although not bad in thmselves, just cause more confusion, i realised why I really have to give myself permission to do nothing right now. Again, a big thank you. Will let you know how things develop as your online network guide may be just the answer I need…:) Thank you for YOU.
Tabitha,
I am so glad this post made a difference for you. If I can make a difference for one person it definitely makes it all worthwhile.
As far as another source of income, I am going to send you a link to a webinar that’s happening tonight that might be of interest to you. It’s not network marketing, but it’s awesome and it’s something I’m doing alongside my Network Marketing biz to generate lots of additional income. I’m a single mom of a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old and I know how important it is to be able to provide for your family (and do something that gives you the time freedom to create income and still be with your kids!).
Look for my email with the webinar link, and after you learn about it, let me know if you want to join us. I’d love to help you. 🙂 xo-A
