What It Takes To Succeed in the Network Marketing Industry- 5 Qualities of Successful Leaders

When it comes to success in the Network Marketing Industry, or any industry, doesn’t it always seem like some people stand out above the crowd and have massive success, while others just barely get by?

Do you think some people are just luckier than others? Or could it be that possible they just have a better warm list when they get started that helps them excel by leaps and bounds in network marketing?

The truth of the matter is this… it’s not about luck, genes, or even who you know.

When it comes to true success, there are certain fundamental factors that need to be in place in order for anybody to get to the top (in the network marketing industry or pretty much any other business).

If you were to interview all of the top leaders in the network marketing industry, you would find that they all have these 5 qualities and traits in common:

1) Desire

Your desire to succeed MUST be greater than your fear of failure in order to succeed in the network marketing industry. Many people jump in and start a business, and then the first time they are asked to step out of their comfort zone, they quit. It’s because their fear of failure is greater than their desire to succeed.

A great way to make sure that your desire to succeed is greater than your fear of failure is to get in touch with your ‘WHY’. Why do you want to succeed? What will your success provide in your life? What will it provide for your family? If you can identify something(s) that you’re literally willing to go to the wall for in your life, your fear of failure will be a non-issue because your desire to succeed it will override it every time.

2) Education

Learn from those who have gone before you. Rather than trying to figure out the path to success in the network marketing industry on your own, it’s much simpler (and WAY more effective), to find someone who has what you want and do what they did in order to get what they got. It’s actually very simple if you think about it… and it takes all of the guesswork out of the equation.

3) Action

It’s not about what you learn, it’s about what you do with what you learn that counts. For example, if you learn from someone who has had immense success in the network marketing industry, but you don’t actually apply what they teach you, it will do you absolutely no good at all. Remember, you have to actually do what they do in order to get what they got… not simply learn what they do and hope for success.

4) Perseverence 

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but rising up every time we fail.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is so true. It’s basically inevitable that we will have failures in the network marketing industry as we push our way down the road to success. This is what we call ‘failing forward’. The key is to be able to pick yourself up each time you fall, and to keep going. If you ask anyone that’s been extremely successful in life and you ask them what their key to success is, most of them will tell you, “Never quit.” It’s really as simple as that… as long as you you keep pushing forward, you will eventually succeed. The only people who don’t succeed are the ones who quit.

5) Adaptability 

True and lasting success depend on one’s ability to embrace change and adapt when faced with challenges. As time goes on, things will change… it’s inevitable. If you cling on for dear life to the way things are, or the way things used to be, it will stop you dead in your tracks from being successful. You must be able to adapt to change and deal with challenges head on. The network marketing industry is constantly changing. My company didn’t even have a website when I first started :). So just keep this in mind, and roll with the punches rather than resisting change… there’s no way to have true success otherwise.


There are other factors that will make a difference as you strive for success in the network marketing industry, but without these 5 foundational qulaities none of the other things really matter.

For example, you could study copywriting and become excellent at writing sales letters. But if you aren’t able to persevere in the face of challenges, it won’t matter, will it?

Or, you could become an SEO expert and master the art of paid advertising. But if your desire to succeed isn’t strong enough, how long will you really be motivated to keep at it?

It’s all very simple actually… it all basically comes down to these 5 simple things. So if you want to succeed in network marketing, start applying these traits and I’ll see you at the top. 🙂
